A high-level military delegation from Uganda, led by Major General Francis Takirwa, has arrived in Nairobi for a crucial engagement with the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
While the exact details of the mission remain undisclosed, sources within regional security circles suggest the visit is centered around strengthening military cooperation and addressing emerging security concerns along the border.
Major General Takirwa, who also serves as the Deputy Commander of the Land Forces in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), was received by senior KDF officials at the Defence Headquarters in Nairobi.
The visit comes at a time when both Kenya and Uganda are facing increased regional security challenges, including cross-border smuggling, militia activities, and threats linked to instability in neighboring nations.
Though official statements from either side remain limited, the ongoing discussions are believed to focus on intelligence sharing, joint training programs, and peacekeeping operations within East Africa.
Observers have noted that the presence of Uganda’s top brass in Kenya could signal a new chapter in defense collaboration between the two countries — one that may redefine how Nairobi and Kampala handle regional security in the coming years.
