Governor Gladys Wanga Visits Mama Ida Odinga To Offer Comfort Days After Raila’s Burial

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga on Tuesday, October 21, paid a heartfelt visit to Mama Ida Odinga at her Opoda Farm in Bondo, Siaya County, just days after the burial of her husband, the late Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga.

Governor Wanga joined the many friends, leaders, and supporters who have continued to comfort the Odinga family following the passing of Kenya’s former Prime Minister.

The visit was marked by a quiet show of solidarity and deep respect for Mama Ida, who has remained a pillar of strength amid national mourning.

In a post shared after the visit, Governor Wanga wrote, “Min Piny…remain strong,” a touching Dholuo phrase that translates to “Mother of the Nation.”

The message reflected the admiration and affection that many Kenyans hold for Mama Ida, who has been recognized for her resilience, grace, and unwavering support to her late husband throughout his decades-long political journey.

During the visit, Governor Wanga and Mama Ida shared moments of reflection, prayer, remembrance of Raila’s enduring legacy, a legacy of courage, justice, and hope that continues to inspire millions across the country.

Governor Wanga, a close ally and mentee of the late Odinga, described the visit as both personal and symbolic, noting that the spirit of unity and service that Raila championed must live on through the next generation of leaders.

Her visit added to the stream of dignitaries, political leaders, and friends who have continued to troop to Opoda Farm to console the Odinga family and pay homage to one of Kenya’s most respected statesmen.
