Ruto Reveals the Government Official He Speaks to Every Night Before Going to Bed

President William Ruto has shared an interesting detail about his daily routine, revealing the government official he communicates with before retiring to bed each night.

Speaking during a church service at the ACK All Saints Pro-Cathedral Church in Maralal, Samburu County, on Sunday, November 9, 2025, the president gave Kenyans a rare glimpse into how he manages state affairs and stays updated on government projects.

Ruto praised Samburu County for producing hardworking and loyal public servants who have made great contributions to his administration.

He noted that several officials from the region hold key positions in government and continue to play a crucial role in implementing the Kenya Kwanza agenda.

Among those he singled out was Tonny Lenaiyara, the Chief Executive Officer of the Digital Health Authority (DHA).

The president revealed that Lenaiyara is the last person he speaks to every night, as they go over updates on the progress of the Social Health Authority (SHA) program, one of the government’s flagship healthcare initiatives.

“You people of Samburu have given us a good young man, Tonny Lenaiyara,” Ruto said with a smile. 

“He works with me on matters of the Social Health Authority. He is the CEO of the Digital Health Authority of Kenya. Every night before I sleep, he is the last person I talk to. At around 10 p.m., he sends me the details of where the SHA has reached.”

The president’s revelation highlighted his hands-on leadership approach and the level of coordination within his team.

By directly engaging with top officials like Lenaiyara, Ruto said he ensures government projects are executed efficiently and that he remains personally informed of their progress.
