It is no secret that the government has officially commenced the process of demolishing the houses that are located in the Makongeni area of Nairobi County.
According to reports, the process officially began on Sunday, with several house being brought down so as to pave way for the affordable housing project that is slated to begin soon in the area.
As we speak, several families have already been affected by the demolitions because they have lost place that they called home for many years.
Among the people who were unfortunately affected was popular Radio Citizen presenter Laureen Achieng.
Unbeknownst to many, the Sabato Takatifu show host lived in Makongeni for many years with her family, in one of the houses that was today brought down.
Laureen Achieng opened up about this in a post that she made on her Facebook account, where she shared how heartbroken she was by the news of the ongoing demolitions.
"This is the place I have called home since I was born.
Today I am hurt, I have cried the whole night reflecting on all that is happening and where will all these people go to. Don't come and tell me about change it's good but it's our hood gone...Memories gone...Child hood gone...Child hood friends gone...Those we called parents gone...OUR MICHIGAN IS GONE 😥😥 OUR MAKONGENI IS GONE 😔😔ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜. K3 DOOR 8 & 9 GONE 😥😥. FOREVER 😥ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜" she said.
