Reason Betty Bayo’s Mother Has Not Attended Daughter’s Burial

Betty Bayo's mass at Ndumberi Stadium was full of emotion, with many of her loved ones crying.

However, the late gospel singer's mother, Joyce Mbugua, was absent from the mass, attended by thousands.

Bishop Michael Wanderi, Betty's preacher, noted Joyce's absence, but her brothers paid a moving homage.

The Thursday, November 20 mass at Ndumberi Stadium was filled with sorrow as loved ones sobbed. Among the mourning was Tanzanian singer Rose Muhando, who described how Betty had assisted her.

"When I was sick and at Pastor James Ng'ang'a's church, Betty came and took me to the hospital. When you see me healthy, Betty had a significant role," remarked an emotional Rose before breaking into song.

Bishop Michael Wanderi, Betty's preacher, acknowledged her mother's absence but stated that they had connected online.

"We sat with her via the internet," he explained, alluding to video conferencing.

He asked Tash's mother to speak, and a friend read her tribute.

"When you entered our family, you showed humility, respect, and warmth. Our relationship has always been positive; you were my daughter, and your bright children became my grandchildren."

Joyce also described how Betty assisted her in moving from the hamlet to a comfortable home in Runda Estate, and then persuaded her to travel to America.

However, the reason for her absence from the burial was not disclosed. Betty's brothers, Moses Kariuki, John Ngugi, Charles Gatimu, Nathan Kamau, Peter Njuguna, and Edward Kang'ethe, all gave passionate tributes, describing her as a source of joy who brought the family together.

"We hoped you would overcome the health issues, but you took your final bow. Death seemed unthinkable to us. But now we realize you're gone. We love and miss you very much. Until we meet again."
