The Tanzanian government has bashed 4 international media stations over what it claims is disseminating misleading information about the state of things in the country.
It has taken issue with CNN, BBC, DW and Al-Jazeera for informing the world about the October 29 election and the chaos and protests that followed the poll process.
According to Chief Government Spokesman, Gerson Msigwa, none of these broadcasters took time to approach the government for its side of the story before airing their reports.
Msigwa has claimed that therefore, these firms have been airing one sided stories, leaving the government with a stained reputation.
"I call on CNN to come to the government's side and publish factual content, stop publishing one-sided news. What CNN did was also done by BBC, DW and Al-Jazeera and it is not fair," he said on Sunday, as reported by BBC.
He stated that the government is willing to give its own account of the situation, adding that the 4 media houses and all others interested are welcome to send in their journalists for data collection.
"We will talk to international media, we will give them a chance to come to us and express themselves and we will express ourselves."
Despite imposing a media and internet shutdown, the Tanzanian government has not been able to control what gets out, with CNN managing to establish how police officers reportedly killed innocent protesters.
The broadcaster has also identified areas suspected to house mass graves used to hide bodies of some of the shooting victims within Dar es Salaam.
