Samia Govt Breaks Silence Over Larry Madowo's Hard-Hitting Report on Election

The Tanzanian government has finally responded to a damning CNN investigation that exposed alleged police brutality and mass graves following the disputed October 29, 2025, election.

On Friday, Chief Government Spokesman issued a statement promising a thorough investigation into claims that security forces killed hundreds of protesters and buried their bodies in secret locations, such as the Kondo cemetery north of Dar es Salaam.

The CNN report, released earlier today, detailed geolocated videos and witness accounts showing police firing on unarmed demonstrators after President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s landslide 98% victory, marred by fraud allegations and opposition bans.

UN reports have corroborated over 200 deaths and widespread detentions, intensifying global pressure.

The government’s statement, however, has done little to quell public outrage.

Social media erupted with angry responses, with citizens like @iamrealpam accusing authorities of covering up “spilled blood” and demanding immediate access to burial sites.

Others, including @jumarichard1, urged the government to open the area to restore trust.

Amid the tensions, the promised probe faces skepticism, with many calling for independent oversight amid Tanzania’s growing authoritarian drift.
